Propolis is not honey but a resin that the bees collect to protect their hives. It has been documented to have more than 300 compounds, including flavonoids, phenolic compounds, polyphenols, terpenes, terpenoids, coumarins, steroids, amino acids, and aromatic acids. In addition, propolis is rich in phytochemicals, including essential oils, vitamins (A, B complexes, C, and E), and important minerals, such as aluminium, sodium, potassium, calcium, copper, magnesium, iron, and zinc.
